The real adventures began in 2003 when five of us tackled the Great Glen Route on the West Coast of Scotland. We stayed in a B&B at Fort Augustus for the Easter weekend. Day One saw us riding out the back of Fort Augustus and up the East side of Loch Ness to Inverness. We were just entering the town to turn south and return down the West side of the Loch when youngest member David failed to lift the front of his Trek 4900 up a high kerb and spread himself all over the pavement and into a wall. Ouch. Double Ouch. He managed to get back to Fort Augustus with a struggle after 70-odd hard miles and an horrendous rainstorm a few miles out.  But he decided he was in no fit state to ride the second day, so I had to transport him around Loch Lochy by car on Day Two as we acted as backup to the remaining three riders while they completed the 140 something mile figure-of-eight ride around the Lochs via Fort William. That was a real bummer as the weather and the ride were both fantastic! He owes me...
