We did Grizedale on New Years Day in 2003! Dave, David, Dean, Michael and Terry present. We stayed in Bowness on Lake Windermere for the weekend, and used the Ferry to get across the Lake (except when we missed it!), then around the foot of Esthwaite Water to the point where the fun started, 1/2 mile south of Esthwaite Hall.

This was the start of a dried up stream disguised as a trail. Tough going, and uphill for some way, but later that day we'd get to come back down it - absolutely fantastic fun trying to miss the biggest rocks. Delayed somewhat by the Gollum searching for his lost sunglasses - one of many pairs of Asda's best £3 models spread around the country by the SOF.

We came across a few wild animals out there, but nothing we couldn't vandalise. Not sure what Dave was doing on it's back though...

Upshot - if you can find the stuff there's some great trail riding between the lakes - just watch out for Homo Sapien on foot. Must be the Cretinous Peroxide in the water.

No, boys, no! Michael and David preparing for synchronised pebble bombardment of Nessie, but that trip was months earlier and she doesn't come to Esthwaite Water for the winter!

It was quite cold later on at the lakeside:-
