My New Bike (Christmas 2006)

At last my new bike is finished! I've had some problems with the brakes being delivered very slowly, (like ordered on 17th December and delivered end of February) then when they arrived they weren't post mount as I'd asked for, so I had to ask the seller to send me a post mount adaptor for the front forks. I'm still waiting for that (from Germany) so I bought one from Chainreaction Cycles that arrived LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER! I was finally able to use the bike as per my planned specification at Alwinton on 5th March.

The spec for my ReCoiler (or maybe ReCoil sounds better?):

2005 Kona Coiler Frame 17"
Marzocchi All Mountain SL 150 forks
Fox DHX5 Air shock
Hope DH mini stem 50mm
Avid Juicy Seven 203mm Hydraulic discs with sintered pads
Middleburn Slick Shift alloy chainrings inner and middle only (from Xmas 2006)
Wellgo V8 Copy gnarly pin pedals (were Crank Bros 5050X - too slippery)
Shimano XT Hollowtech II Cranks
Shimano XT front derailleur
Shimano XTR rear derailleur
Shimano XT cassette
Connex Wipperman Teflon Chain
A2Z Titanium Skewers
Hope XC hubs
Vuelta Excalibur DH rims
DT Swiss Stainless 14swg spokes
Specialized Chunder Pro XC 1.9" tyres (were Maxxis High Roller 2.5s)
SDG bum rest
Crud Raceguards for dry arse and shock

Before fitting my new homebuilt wheels it weighed 32.3 lbs. I may have lost some of my advantage with the big Juicy Sevens and the downhill rims, but it looks great to me and is way lighter than my trusty old Kona Bear. And at about £2.5K I reckon it's a bit better and nicer looking than a Coiler Primo or the '06 CoilAir.

and finally, completed -

next up for Project Recoil (when my other half isn't looking!) are:

Stinky 7" Rocker Arms. That'll take the cost to about £2,750 and I'll call a halt.
