Thursday 17th January 2008 marked the first outing for another new member, Kev, from Wallsend. He's another with dodgy shift patterns at work but will try to join us as often as he can. He has to do that anyway to justify his new bike. Oh, I didn't tell you what it was, did I? Coz I didn't want to. Coz it's yet another bl@@dy Specialized, init! This time a black FSR XC. Our rider membership numbers are now around 50 and between them they have 400 Specialized bikes. Must be something in the water.

Anyway, to christen Kev and his new blurk Golly decided to head out west as the wind seemed favourable. So we took the Waggonway up to Killingworth Pit and then the other one across to Hillheads.

Now it's 6th Feb and can I heck remember what else we did tonight, except that the pictures below bring a little of it back. Mainly the sight of Speedy Ian A practising his parachute landings out in the blackness of Black Callerton, where the nasty Gollum wouldn't let him get up and soothe the pain without a quick photo for the memoirs.

He started to recover his humour a bit by the second shot That's hard rock chips he landed on - not so funny.

On the gentle slope up to the end of the runway Kev found his brain willing but legs not so much and he was pretty happy to stop at our usual rest halt outside the Airport main entrance. If I recall, Brian's rear shock jammed here, or was that the previous visit. No matter, it gives me another opportunity to slag of Specialized bikes. Slag, slag.

Time was moving on a bit so we decided not to risk completing the loop through Ponteland and Dinnington so out of kindness for tired riders we turned back with Gollum leading back down to Wolsington. We followed the route we used to get out most of the way back but took in the final treat with a quick run through Gosforth Park. Crazy as ever behind Ian.

Sorry for the brevity of this one but I left it too long due to circumstances beyond my control laziness.

Look at the view Ian and terry have! Brian's bike is the talking point - again!
