Guest write Ian A, alias the Speedian, sums up this Thursday nighter, 17th |July 2008 -

I was expecting a turnout of two tonight as the rest of the regulars are off to the west coast of Scotland for several days from Saturday. An hour before departure I had a surprise request for transportation from Ian F now living 2 mins up the road in Forest Hall, thanks to Ian B for accommodating the last minute transport change at short notice.

So the three Ian’s or Ian³ arrived at Lintzford car park spot on 7.15, a twenty minute drive to be greeted by Chris K and new rider Evan D, apparently Chris K has spent many years around the trails in Chopwell Woods, so I was happy to hand over the reigns as  ride leader for the night, and that turned out to be a very fortunate decision, fast downhill’s and wicked hidden single track was the theme for the whole night which left everyone with broad grins on their faces. Arthur turned up about 40 mins into the ride after missing us at the meeting point, Arthur was getting some last minute training in for the Scotland trip. Evan didn’t disappoint being his first ride out he continued the tradition of falling off not once narrowly missing a golf course but twice, overshooting the trail on the downhill section into the woods just before the boardwalk, with Ian F falling 20 yards further down. Fortunately no injuries to either just a few bruises. An excellent nights entertainment was had by all even Ian B the Glentress veteran asked to do the downhill again and regretted not bringing his full suss bike. Chris K has to be the first one invited for the next visit and let’s hope that’s sooner rather than later.
