From the Pen of the Speedian (Ian A):

Thursday the third of September had the hardy few (15) gathering at the cave.

first job of the night was the well marshalled distribution of the new club shirts by Mrs Gollum, and very impressive they are too thanks to Stewart. It was far to wet to wear them as an outer garment so those who did put them on kept them well covered up beneath their oilskins.

This wasn’t planned as a particular fast Thursday but for some reason, (probably no mechanicals and a half dozen fewer riders) we soaked up the miles in what felt like record time. Because of the extremely strong westerly we headed to Blyth via the tree lined dismantled railway line toward Laverick Hall Road, right then right again we returned to Holywell dene via Lysdon Farm.

A couple of minutes break beneath the bridge before the steep descent to the free ride park and Mick had a quick look at that fateful spot were nine months ago he reshaped his bike and body, no takers tonight at a repeat performance. What felt like the first headwind of the night made its presence felt as we headed home towards Holywell Grange farm and East Holywell arriving back to the cave just after 9.30pm - that’s a record early finish, everyone was totally soaked and ripped to shreds from the brambles gorse and nettles encountered throughout the night but it seems whatever the weather has to offer the best option is just get out and ride, a great time was had by all.(I think).

The youngsters from Heaton and Gosforth + Stewart(Not saying you're not young Stew) headed home via the Rising Sun, just too fit for their own good.

See you next week.
